Health Research Program of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta

Scientific milestone: our flagship publication is out

Our third publication from this year was recently published in the International Journal for Equity in Health and it reports on the unique telemedicine pilot that took place in the homeless shelters of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta. The article was made in collaboration with the Digital Health Working Group of Semmelweis University.

The main aim of the DocRoom program is to conduct quality research on the health status of people with limited access to healthcare and to contribute to health equity by sharing the scientific results widely. As previously detailed on our blog, we were the first in Europe to provide digital health care for people experiencing homelessness in social institutions. The program proved to be clearly successful and sustainable, as well as ended with outstanding patient satisfaction and professional evaluation. Based on this result, the Health Center introduced a hybrid care model, in which in-person medical care is extended by an online visit.

The open-access publication can be read here. Thank you to all participants and collaborators for contributing to our research on reducing health inequalities!
